About Me
Hello, my name is Adin Van Duyne and I have been working with glass since the summer of 2004. My first exposure to glass was in the late 90s
when my mom got a small bead torch and started making glass beads for fun. I made a couple myself after learning the basics from her, but
didn't really get into it at the time. Then came my big break!
One of my friends decided to quit the job he'd had for about 4 years to open his own glass studio. I was in the right place at the right time!
I was invited by my friend to come and work at his studio. In exchange for helping him, he taught me how to work glass in a hot shop.
I was hooked! I spent almost 2 years learning from and helping him.
After more than a year of learning offhand glassblowing, I became interested in lampworking. What's the difference? You can find out
more about them here. I found myself wanting to be
on the torch every chance I got. I moved into a house with a garage in Lawrence, Kansas (my hometown) and set up my own small studio space. I worked there for a
year before moving to Memphis, Tennessee.
In June of 2007, I decided to move to Estes Park, Colorado where I now currently reside. I love being in the mountains. I used to go to Cheley,
a summer camp here in Estes, when I was a kid. I feel like I've come back home. I have recently finished setting up my studio here in the garage.
I'm quite excited to be able to get back to work! If you're interested in dropping by, feel free to contact me
and let me know!
What is Satori?
Translated literally it means "to understand." But there is more to it than that. You can find some more info here.
